Spotted Pardalotes are most abundant in April and least so in November. Pardalotes may get caught up in the autumn honeyeater migration, which could contribute to the April peak. Numbers were highest in 1982, and lowest in 1984 and 1991.

Spotted Pardalotes breed in the tunnels they excavate in sandbanks, garden beds or similar structures sometimes quite close to houses. Nesting activity was recorded from July to March. There are many records of nests but very few of dependent young, perhaps because it is easier to see birds around nesting tunnels than in the tree tops where the young join their parents after fledging.
