 Although quite plain to look at, this little bird can be readily
identified by its delightful song. It is a summer migrant with few records
between June and August.
Numbers increase quickly from September to October,
and decrease from November to December as the birds move into woodland
areas to breed. Numbers peak in March and then decline quickly as most
birds migrate north or west. In the summer of 1982-3 (a drought year),
when many summer migrants were abundant, the number of Western Gerygones
was almost five times the average of other years. R=95. BR=NA.
