This parrot is another rare visitor to Canberra, which is on the south eastern edge of its natural range. Superb Parrots are only present in Canberra from September to April with a clear peak in the summer. A flock of 30 birds was recorded in Evatt in January 1990. The Superb Parrot is one of six species officially declared endangered or vulnerable in the ACT. R=122.

In late January 2006 flocks of at least 100 were seen in Cook, Macquarie, Hawker, and in the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs carpark in Belconnen. They flock was composed of about 20% each of mature males and females, with each pair feeding about 3 offspring.
