Little Eagle Hieraaetus morphnoides |
|
The Little Eagle prefers to hunt over grassland and open woodland outside urban areas but regularly flies over the suburbs. Its calls as well as harassment by magpies and ravens attract attention. However, it is recorded less frequently than the Wedge-tailed Eagle, although the seasonal pattern is similar with a late summer to autumn peak. Numbers peaked in 1993-94 with a gradual decline since. R=87. BR=NA.
