Flame Robins spend the summer in the ranges but appear in small groups around suburban fringes in winter, when they come down to forage in open fields, pasture and parkland. They are occasionally recorded passing through gardens in spring and autumn.

The pronounced seasonal pattern is typical for an altitudinal migrant. Numbers increase from March to a June peak, then decline again with very few records from November to February. Numbers have been fairly stable during the survey except for significantly higher numbers in the first two years, and a virtual absence in 1992.

The only breeding records, of nesting/dependent young in September/October 1994, and a failed nesting attempt in October 1995, were from a property outside Kambah. R=85. BR=70.
