The Scarlet Robin is the most common robin in the woodlands
around Canberra, and the most likely to be seen in gardens, as it is
relatively tolerant of suburban conditions. They are usually seen singly
or in pairs.
Scarlet Robins are typical of altitudinal migrants, being fairly
common in winter and almost absent in summer. There is some variation
in numbers from year to year but they were clearly least common in
the first four years of the survey.
The only breeding record is of a dependent young late in October
1987. R=45. BR=83.
